Okay first of all I will post the long over due pictures of my pizza I made completely from scratch. Dough and sauce.

Would have been better if the oven here worked properly but it does not. Always fun when baking. Speaking of which I tried a new whole wheat bread recipe the other day that did NOT work out. It would not rise and so I decided to make one loaf of bread instead of two. Well Joel called it the brick because it weighed like 5 pounds and was super dense. But he ate it all. He is such a good sport.

The other day we went for a hike down to the sulphur mine. The trail starts at the end of our road and when you get down to it, it has great views of the airport and the ocean here are a couple pictures....

It was a nice hike, nice and short in the heat. And when we got back we definitely needed to go for a swim. Which we have done everyday since Joel's break started. I don't think I could handle it here without a pool. Of course Sophie swims with us every day because she gets way to hot and today she got in the pool all by herself. It was amazing. Slowly but surely we will get her in there every time by herself. Today she was just way over heated from going for a car ride with us so I think she actually wanted to get in.

Also I forgot to tell you about our new car. Joel and I got in it and tried to start it the other day and it would not start. Joel was starting to get annoyed and we were trying to figure out how we were going to fix it. We were thinking we bought a dud and only got to drive it like 3 times before it died. Then Joel remembered, this car has an immobilizer. hahahahaha I think you had to be there to understand how funny this was  but I thought it was hilarious! Especially considering most people just leave the keys in their car here so there is no need for an immobilizer.

Well I am going to get back to making more bread, good bread. Also we are going to head to the tide pools again this week and this time bring a camera because it is beautiful there. Here are a few pictures to make you jealous of us right now......

We haven't been to busy, on purpose, since my last post. Everyday we have been in the pool and relaxed almost every night. The only major thing we have done is put in a garden. I was give a whack load of seeds for birthday gifts and it is a good thing too. I have been having trouble finding any kind of basil, dried or fresh so now I am growing my own. Along with purple beans, zucchini, strawberries, cantelope, lettuce, sage, chives and tomatoes. Here are some pictures of our handy work.

This turned into this..

And this turned into this...

Here are some of our other pots. And I guess this place is really conducive to growing because I planted these on Monday and I already have growth. So far I can see the beginnings of basil, lettuce, beans and zucchini. Can't wait for this to all grow so I can eat it! mmmmmm

I also met the couple that has been running the student's Christian church here for the last couple semesters. It is really to bad that he just finished school and they left on Tuesday because I really liked Amanda. She is so nice that she gave me DVDs to watch to keep me busy when Joel is in school. You don't understand how important that is for me. Especially since I have not see the show before so it is all new.

Other then that we have already been snorkelling this morning and we are ending the day with chicken and ribs at Swinging Doors. I love a good BBQ. Okay off to relax a little more and hang out with my handsome hubby and puppy as seen below, aren't they adorable?

Okay here is a lit of things I have been up to the last couple days.....

-grocery shopping
-defrosted and cleaned a fridge
-baked buns for the first time (and then another time because my husband and his friends ate them all)
-made dinner for Joel and his friends after their last exam
-went out for drinks and met a lot of new people
-climbed Mt. Scenery
-snorkelled
-went out for dinner with some new friends
-relaxed by the pool
-had a tour of the island

I don't need to bore you with all the details of these events so I will just show you some pictures.

These are the buns I made, as you can see they were pretty tasty. So tasty in fact that we ate 3 before I could take a picture. I just need to tweak the recipe a little bit more to help them taste even better. My new time consuming hobby, cooking/baking.

This is my view out my window. On a clear day you can see all 3 neighbouring islands, in order, St. Eustatius, St. Kitts and Nevis.

Here are the pictures of our hike to the top of Mt. Scenery. Joel has been trying to climb this mountain for 7 months and we finally made it. The first picture shows how clear the peak was when we started the climb but unfortunately it was pretty cloudy when we got to the top.

This picture remind us of the TV show LOST. What do you think?

My new friend Angela and I at the highest point on Mt. Senery. Below is Joel and I sitting in the clouds. Minutes later at the top of the mountain Joel turned around to ask me if I needed help going through the mud and then he slipped off the trail and all I saw was his hand disappearing into the bush. Luckily there was a ledge about 5 feet down and we were able to get him back on the trail but I freaked out a little bit. Scared the crap out of me. Sheesh!

Angela, her husband Nathan and I at the end of the hike. You can't tell but we are covered in mud from the sloppy trek to the top.

This is a view from the top of Mt. Scenery. Joel took a bunch of pictures and cut and paste them to make this view. Beautiful.

Okay well Joel and I are going to relax for the next few days so I am not sure how much news I am going to have to share. Just going to be sitting by the pool and maybe doing some more snorkelling. Tough life right.......

I know most people hate moving, and to be honest I am not a fan of the moving part either. What I am a fan of is unpacking. I love the idea of a fresh start and making a place your own. Finding new and interesting ways to use objects and of course organizing. Though there is usually some cleaning involved I still love it.

I got to Saba Sunday evening and was actually really early so that was fantastic. Good thing Joel could hear my plane land from the cottage and the drive down is only a couple minutes. Here is the view of the airport from the top of our driveway.

Yep that's right, rocky cliffs on either end of the runway, which also happens to be the shortest commercial runway in the world. If you like adventure come visit me!

My lovely husband is starting to get annoyed with me and my constant questions, silly conversations and all around bugging. I find it so hard to leave him alone because I am finally so close to him. This is how close I am to him as I write this...

Makes me want to go over to him and give him a big kiss. But that is not allowed till Wednesday night when he is done exams. Cannot come soon enough. Then we have 2 weeks together here on the island. We have no plans yet except we are going to climb Mt. Scenery because even though Joel has been here more then 7 months he has not made it up there yet. Other then that maybe some relaxing and just enjoying each other.

If any of you are wondering about the other love in my life (Sophie) I will tell you. She was Perfect on the flight. Not a peep, no accidents and all the stewardesses loved her. All I can say is I love Westjet! Sophie is also doing well here. We leave the door open so she is in an out all day and we walk around here and go to the pool without a leash. I love her, definitely would be boring without her. Based on her smile in this picture I would say she likes it here too.

But I need everyone's help with something. I need a name for this blog. All the good ones seem to be taken. So feel free to comment and leave any ideas you may think of. They can be wacky, cute, fun, just not boring.

Well I am going to go find something to keep me occupied for the next little while till Joel has another break. I will leave you with a few pictures I took. Nothing interesting just took a few for the blog.  Enjoy!

Here is our cute little cottage from the street, and our little Sophie enjoying the view.

This is Sophie living the hard life.

The view from our patio.

And finally the view from the kitchen window. I am going to like washing dishes here.
